Kevin Carter was a South African award winning photojournalist. One of his famous photograph was taken in Sudan in 1994, as he was covering the drought, he took a photograph of a starving child with a vulture at the background, this photograph was taken in colour. Looking at the image, personally I believe its a strong one and looked natural, for me the brown shades in the colour showed drought and famine. Kevin Carter won the best photograph of the year but what makes me think is what happened to the child? was his job more important than saving a child?. But on the other side, this image brought awareness and showed on what’s happening. Later on, Kevin Carter committed suicide. This makes me wonder if story telling can be so controversial at some point.
